Travelling to Portugal

Affinity Villas believes our clients should have total flexibility in choosing their holiday by offering all elements of a traditional package separately. Our accommodation is priced per property per week, with no complicated under occupancy supplements to calculate. Car hire rates are not 'packaged' giving you total freedom should you wish to make your own arrangements, though we think you will find our car hire prices are amongst the best value you will find!

Flights to Faro

There has never been more choice for flying to the Algarve with many low cost airlines, internet flight operators and traditional scheduled airlines all competing in a thriving market. There are currently airlines operating flights to Faro from Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Bristol, Cardiff, Cork, Dublin, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Jersey, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Luton, London Stansted, Manchester, Newcastle, Shannon and Southampton. It takes between 20 to 80 minutes to drive from Faro Airport to any of our villas (please see each villa description for a clearer indication).

Flights to Lisbon

An alternative option that you may wish to consider is flying into Lisbon, the main international gateway into Portugal. With the constantly improving road network, the drive from Lisbon to the Algarve is relatively simple, but it will increase your journey by 2.5 to 3 hours in addition to the times indicated on each villa description.

Driving to Portugal

An increasing number of our guests now prefer to drive themselves to one of our villas in the Algarve. The advantages are evident with no restrictions on luggage and no need for car hire in Portugal. The self-drive option rather than flying to the Algarve can also be an attractive option for those with a little extra time to spare, or perhaps have young families with the need for all the extra equipment to ensure a relaxing summer holiday.

Our recommended route when travelling from the UK is via one of Brittany Ferries services from either Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao both of which lie a short distance apart on the northern coast of Spain. If Plymouth is an easier port for to access then there is a regular service to Santander however this operates only on Sundays which may not suit you when our arrival day is Thursday. Both Santander and Bilbao have excellent access to the fast Spanish toll free motorway network and you can be down in the Algarve in less than 9 hours.

A convenient ferry crossing for our Thursday arrivals is the Wednesday noon departure to Bilbao from Portsmouth which will get you into Spain early on Thursday morning. So with a stop for lunch you will be in your villa early Thursday evening. If the thought of a whole day at the wheel is not too appealing why not take the Tuesday crossing arriving Santander on Wednesday and break you journey with an overnight stay in historic Salamanca, Merida or Seville. A return service to Portsmouth operates regularly on Thursdays from Bilbao. For a comprehensive timetable of services to and from Spain please click here.

Travelling to Spain on Brittany Ferries

The ferry experience is a great way to start your holiday and facilities on board are reminiscent of modern cruise ships rather than the old cross channel ferries of yesteryear. Facilities include fine dining restaurants, on board entertainment, cinemas, designer shopping and even a swimming pool. A cabin is essential to enjoying the trip and each has en-suite facilities and many have luxurious hotel style touches to ensure a comfortable trip. A range of cabin types are available though we do suggest you book early if you are looking to secure the cabin of your choice.
