Vilamoura has gained a reputation for being stylish and sophisticated; a place where the rich and famous moor their yachts and while away the hours in the chic bars and gourmet restaurants around the marina. It's no wonder so many choose self catering villas in Vilamoura as their preferred choice of holiday accommodation in this part of the Algarve. However, even a short stay in this purpose-built Algarve resort reveals a town buzzing with activities to suit all wallets and the peace and tranquility of the beautiful Praia da Falésia close by.

Having been built in the eighties, Vilamoura lacks the quaint charm of the historic Algarve resorts but it makes up for this by providing a luxurious ambience that everyone can enjoy. The marina is the centre of activity and watching the world go by from one of its trendy bars or pavement cafes is a favourite pastime of many visitors.

Praia da Falésia can be reached via more than 120 wooden steps leading down from the car park. When TripAdvisor's Travellers' Choice Awards revealed it as the 11th best beach in the world and the 3rd best beach in Europe, we were not surprised! The beach extends for more than 6 kilometres from Olhos de Água, Albufeira to the beginning of the Vilamoura Marina and is stunningly beautiful.
'Praia da Falésia' translates to 'Beach of Cliffs'. Multi-coloured sandstone cliffs are the backdrop for pristine golden sands and a blue-green sea and the beach is largely unspolit by tourism. After a day relaxing or walking on the beach, sunset offers a wonderful opportunity to capture the warmth of the colours on camera.

There is no shortage of things to do in Vilamoura. There are boat trips for deep sea fishing, dolphin watching, sightseeing, breakfast trips, karting, watersports and water parks nearby. Nearby Quarteira is well known for its weekly market and Zoomarine, at Guia-Albufeira, is only a short drive away.
Activities such as karting and dolphin watching ensure that there’s never a dull moment
Vilamoura is a first-rate town with outstanding facilities and whether you enjoy dancing the night away in a club, trying your luck at the casino or visiting one of the many wonderful restaurants or chic bars, the fun continues into the small hours. Then when it’s time to leave, it is also convenient for Faro Airport, being around half an hour’s drive.
